Data Delivery Formats

These are all relatively lightweight and any compression or compaction is lossless

PNG

A format already widely used for graphical images. It is optimised for graphical as opposed to photographical images, in that each cell value (pixel) is a 16 bit positive integer. If significantly less than 64K colours are use, e.g. only 1024 stored in 10 bits, easy and useful lossless compression can be applied to the underused 16 bit integers.
