Results

• The Met DWG will be open to the broader met community, and OGC membership will not be required for participation on the email list or access to the wiki
• Chris Little (UK Met Office) has been elected as a co-chair, one or more additional co-chairs is desirable
• A steering group has been chosen that includes some of the attendees (Meteo France, UK Met Office, NCAR, ECMWF, etc). This will most likely need to be modified or expanded as the group continues
• A set of topics of interest to the community will be identified and documented on the wiki, along with existing relevant work
• The Met DWG will be a coordinating body for information sharing, decisions and statements on met profiles, and the coordination of interoperability experiments (possibly including formal OGC Interoperability Experiments such as GALEON)
• The Met DWG is considered a sub-group of the ESS/Earth Sciences DWG, so Meteorology does not develop its own "silo" of interoperability
• A Memorandum Of Understanding with the WMO is very desirable to establish a relationship between OGC (in particular this group) and WMO. The WMO sounded receptive to such a relationship prior to this kickoff meeting. Preferably the WMO would have one or more representatives actively participating in this DWG so information is readily exchanged
• The charter was revised slightly based on open access principles and the relationship with the ESS DWG
