In the OGC Met Ocean DWG Teleconference on 11 January 2010, the main ideas were that:
Several ways to handle the dependent dimensions are possible :
- Trond has written an interesting proposal by defining a new WMS operation on the WMS. [Trond's proposal][[http://external.opengeospatial.org/twiki_public/bin/view/MetOceanDWG/MetTimeSuggestionTM]
Jon Blower will describe another proposal into a twiki page and next teleconference will be dedicated to the issue.
Then the discussions slept to delivery policy considering that some people want to access new products or new data as soon as possible.
The question is then how to inform the arrival of new data/ product update.
It seems impossible to update on real time a catalogue. Ben points out that considering radar date , there can be tens of products per second.
Pull type technologies are not the best to answer this need and present some limitation on this aspect. It would be necessary to be able to define a permanent request.
This probleme is bigger for services delivering data as WFS or WCS than for WMS.
This delivery policy issue is an issue itself already identified out of the questionnaire under the title :"Asynchronous and dynamic data delivery ".
Marie-Françoise will initialise a page to introduce the issue which is not specific to WMS but also impact WCS, WFS and SOS at least. The WCS, WFS and SOS SWG groups could be invited to contribute to this discussion.
Chris and Marie-Françoise could also make some proposal for climatological time concepts.
