regions of validity

Idea: specify per direct position how far around it the value is valid - in other words: where interpolation is applicable. This allows, eg, to specify regions where no interpolation should be applied. This should become a separate conformance class.

Status: For time axes this has been defined, a generalized specification is under work.

coverage groupings

Idea: recursive nestings of both homogeneous (ie, can be seen and treated as a single coverage) and inhomogeneous coverage sets. Open issue: detail semantics of operations?

Status: partially achieved with CIS 1.1.

partitioning schemes for coverages

Idea: time slices for "never-ending" observation processes, etc.

Status: partially achieved with CIS 1.1.

updates of coverage offerings

Status: done, with adopted WCS-T 2.0.
