Minutes for the MetOcean DWG Teleconference, 30 July 2012, 15:00-16.00 UTC

Attendees

Chris Little (UKMO)

Jürgen Seib (DWD)

Ben Domenico (UCAR)

Stephan Siemen (ECMWF)

Roy Ladner (USNavy)

Status of the works :

We did not discuss any technical content (Section 9) of the WMS 1.3 Best Practice document:
but we just discussed and agreed the structure of the document and editorial changes.
Section 1: Chris would merge Section 8 into the Introduction.
Section 2: Chris would incorporate climatological time as a current scope exclusion.
Sections 3, 10, 11, 12. Chris would remove these as there was no normative material. Roy would edit Section 9 appropriately ('should' instead of 'shall' or 'must') [But note change of view later, back to 'shall' or 'must']
It was agreed that normative statements, along with conformance classes and test could readily be developed but not by the OGC Seoul TC document deadline.
Section 4, Annex C: Chris would add a CAP reference and some informative WMO references.
Section 7: A typographical convention needs to be adopted in the examples, such as TIME = t, ELEVATION = l. Chris would make first draft.
Figures 1 & 2/3 would be tidied up by Stephan and Roy.
Annex B Revision History: ALL would update their part.
Outstanding work to be done:
1. We would leave the WMS extracted tables at the end of the document until we were certain that we did not need them.
2. Ensure recent email discussions incorporated.

3. When structural changes done, get review by non-Met Ocean WMS experts for their feedback.
No other issues raised or discussed.
