The CCIP Competitive Process
In order to select applications for inclusion on the CCIP traveling system, the organizing committee will evaluate the utility of candidate software based upon the following criteria. The exception being, if your service is selected for use by a FOSS4G 2009 workshop, it gets 1st priority for local install for that conference.| Software Class | Definition | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Data Web Service | A Web Service that provides access to a data set through one of OGC’s open interfaces, such as WCS, WFS, or SOS. Each data set provided by the service counts as an individual service offer. Therefore a point is scored for each data set offered. | 2 |
| Processing Web Service | A Web Service that accesses two or more Data Web Services, performs a computation with them, and returns a new data set to the client using one of OGC’s open interfaces, such as WPS or WCPS | 4 |
| Visualization Web Service | A Web Service that provides a map, or picture of geospatial data using one of OGC’s open interfaces, such as WMS or Feature Portrayal Service (for KML) | 1 |
| Client of a Data or Visualization Web Service | Software that makes use of a Data or Visualization Web Service by exercising the open OGC interface. Points are awarded for each vendor’s service accessed, but not for each data set accessed. | 2 |
| Client of a Processing Web Service | Software that makes use of a Processing Web Service by exercising the open OGC interface. Points are awarded for each vendor’s service accessed, but not for each data set accessed. | 4 |
